Military Movements in Eastern Tigray Spark Fears of Renewed Conflict
Residents in eastern Tigray, particularly in and around the town of Wukro, have expressed growing fears over a potential resurgence of conflict due to significant military movements in the area. Local sources and residents reported that Tigrayan forces, including units from various armies, recently entered Wukro following earlier clashes in southern Tigray and subsequently repositioned toward strategic mountainous areas such as Za'ena, Tsergeda, Ger'alta, and Atsbi. Meanwhile, federal government forces alongside Tigray peace forces are reportedly preparing and advancing toward Agulae and surrounding locations near Lake Meshal. Although no major active combat was reported in recent days, the proximity of opposing armed forces and visible preparations, including the setting up of heavy weaponry and fortifications, have created an atmosphere of intense tension among the local population.
