African Union Commission Deputy Chairperson Selma Malika Haddadi urged international media to provide fair and contextualized reporting on Africa, moving beyond narratives focused solely on conflict. Al Jazeera's Ethiopia bureau head, Mohammed Tewekel, reaffirmed the network's founding commitment to representing underrepresented voices. The event emphasized the need for a more balanced portrayal of the continent's history, diversity, and aspirations by global media outlets.
