Lt. Gen. Tadesse Werede speaks on his rescue and the role of the ENDF

Former Tigray Interim Administration President Lt. General Tadesse Werede has spoken to Awramba Times regarding his escape from a recent kidnapping. During the interview, he remarked that he had previously warned certain political-military actors that their actions would destroy Tigray, but those warnings were ignored. He characterized the actions taken against him and his colleagues as neither political nor legal.

While he declined to provide specific details on how he managed to escape his captors, he expressed gratitude to those who facilitated his rescue. He specifically thanked the Ethiopian National Defense Force (ENDF) and the Tigray peace forces, emphasizing that the ENDF played a critical role in saving his and his colleagues' lives.
