Security Situation and Resident Concerns in Gambella City

The security situation in Gambella city has relatively stabilized, yet daily life has not returned to normal. Residents reported to Tikvah Ethiopia that people, particularly in Kebele 04, have been displaced due to safety concerns, and business activities remain halted. Simon Tut, Chairperson of the Gambella Peoples Democratic Movement, emphasized that high security risks persist in specific areas, prompting residents to flee for fear of night-time attacks. Conversely, the city administration stated that security forces are working to restore order and urged residents to return to their homes, encouraging businesses to resume operations. The Defense Force and Federal Police are actively guarding affected areas.
