Robbery Attempt Reported in Gambella; Authorities Issue Warning

The Gambella City Peace and Security Office reported that organized groups attempted to loot homes of displaced individuals this morning, prompting security forces to intervene. While gunfire was reported around 9:00 AM, authorities confirmed that the city has since stabilized and urged residents to remain calm. Meanwhile, regional police warned that disinformation campaigns are hindering the return of displaced people to their homes. Authorities specifically condemned the use of government vehicles to transport displaced persons away from the city toward rural areas under the pretext of security concerns. The police emphasized that strict measures will be taken against any unauthorized vehicles involved in such activities and called for an immediate cessation of these illegal operations.
