PM Abiy Ahmed Inaugurates Megech Irrigation Dam Project

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has officially inaugurated the Megech irrigation dam project in Gondar. The project has a capacity of 185 million cubic meters and is designed to irrigate over 17,000 hectares, directly benefiting tens of thousands of farmers. In addition to providing clean drinking water to Gondar city and its surroundings, the project is expected to create job opportunities for youth through urban agriculture, large-scale fisheries, and tourism-related developments.

The Prime Minister noted that the project faced significant delays over the years but was successfully completed by overcoming implementation challenges through the 'Medemer' philosophy. He emphasized that the government remains committed to inclusive growth across all regions of Ethiopia and called on the public in Gondar to actively participate in ongoing development efforts.
