Defense Force 119th Anniversary and Field Marshal Berhanu Jula's Red Sea Remarks

The Ethiopian National Defense Force (ENDF) celebrated its 119th Army Day with a ceremony in Addis Ababa. Field Marshal Berhanu Jula, Chief of General Staff, emphasized that the Red Sea is a strategic natural asset for Ethiopia and that the government is committed to securing national interests in both the Red Sea and the Abay (Blue Nile) river.

Addressing security concerns, Field Marshal Berhanu stated that the TPLF has launched four wars in the last eight years, all resulting in failure. He affirmed that the military has defeated multiple internal and external threats, establishing itself as a reliable force in the region. He warned that no transitional government would be formed on the ruins of the defense force and urged political opponents to seek power through peaceful, democratic competition rather than insurgency.
