Southern Radio and Television Organization facing severe operational and financial crisis

Current and former employees of the Southern Radio and Television Organization (SRTO) have reported that the institution is facing an existential crisis due to structural, managerial, and financial problems. Following the division of the former Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples' Region into four new regions, the organization has suffered from reduced support, with a lack of coordinated oversight and funding from these new regional administrations.

Employees have complained about significant salary delays and five months of unpaid back pay. Additionally, the lack of administrative and financial oversight has allegedly led to corruption, the deterioration of broadcasting equipment, and frequent service interruptions. Former and current staff are now calling for urgent intervention from the federal government and the four concerned regions to rescue the historic media institution.
