Ethiopia to acquire S-400 air defense systems from Russia

Ethiopia has announced it will acquire four S-400 air defense system batteries from Russia. The S-400 is a highly advanced defense system capable of detecting and destroying aircraft, cruise missiles, drones, and certain ballistic missiles. The system integrates radar technology, command and control equipment, and missile launchers, with a radar range of up to 600 kilometers and engagement capabilities up to 400 kilometers depending on the specific target and missile type. Because the system is mounted on vehicles, it is mobile and can be repositioned based on the nation's security needs. Other countries currently using the S-400 system include Russia, China, Turkey, and India.
