Ethiopian Media Authority Reinstates Tigray Media Agency License
The Ethiopian Media Authority (EMA) announced that it has reinstated the broadcast license of the previously suspended Tigray Media Agency, now operating under the new name "Tigray Broadcasting Corporation." The EMA recalled that the license was initially suspended due to the dissemination of content that violated media laws, contradicted national interests, promoted extremism, and endangered the safety of the country and its people.
The reinstatement follows a request submitted by the Tigray Interim Administration, which committed to ensuring the media outlet plays a positive role in peace, stability, and reflecting the voices of the people. The Authority stated it reviewed the request against the media proclamation and found it to be appropriate for approval. The EMA has officially called on all relevant stakeholders to provide the necessary cooperation to the newly named Tigray Broadcasting Corporation.
