US Court Suspends DV-2027 Lottery Registration

A US appeals court has temporarily blocked the lower court's order to open the DV-2027 lottery registration, halting the process that was scheduled to begin tomorrow. The legal dispute arose after the 'Red Eagle Law' firm sued to force the program to open; however, the appeals court ruled that the lottery program was intended to support immigration from underrepresented countries, not to create business opportunities for law firms. The court clarified that while this ruling does not permanently endorse the Trump administration's initial suspension of the program, the registration will remain blocked until the legal proceedings are concluded. Consequently, the State Department is not currently obligated to open the registration.
