South Sudan Plans 1,800 MW Fula Hydroelectric Dam on the Nile River

South Sudan has announced that it is preparing to launch the Fula Hydroelectric Power Dam project on the Nile River. Located in the Nimule area, the proposed dam is expected to have a total power generation capacity of 1,800 megawatts. Currently, South Sudan utilizes only about one percent of its overall electricity generation potential, leaving millions of citizens without reliable energy access. Once completed, the Fula Dam is projected to fully meet the country's domestic electricity demand while generating surplus power for export to neighboring nations. The South Sudanese government emphasized that it has no fear or hesitation regarding Egypt concerning the dam's construction. Officials publicly asserted that the country will confidently proceed with building its infrastructure to empower its economy.
