Getachew Reda Claims Egypt Provided Financial Support to TPLF During War

Getachew Reda, President of the Tigray Interim Administration, stated that Egypt provided financial support to the TPLF during the war in Tigray. He revealed this at a policy discussion forum organized by the Ethiopian Defense College and the Institute of Foreign Affairs. Getachew, who was the head of foreign relations at the time, explained that the TPLF had requested $500 million from Egypt, but received only $500,000. He noted that he suspected at the time that Egypt did not fully trust them due to disagreements regarding the GERD project.
