US Development Finance Corp plans to invest in Bishoftu Airport project

The US Development Finance Corporation (DFC) plans to allocate significant investment to support loans for small and medium-sized enterprises related to the new Bishoftu International Airport construction. The US State Department stated that this initiative aims to create job opportunities for the citizens of both nations, enhance direct flight services, and foster economic development. US Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs, Frank Garcia, held discussions with Ethiopian Airlines CEO Mesfin Tasew regarding the project. The Assistant Secretary emphasized the US's commitment to ensuring that American investment and technology underpin the Bishoftu airport development. The US has previously expressed its interest in participating in the mega-airport project, which is currently under construction.
