Students from Tigray Region Universities to Be Temporarily Reassigned to Other Public Universities

The Ministry of Education has decided to temporarily reassign students previously enrolled in universities within the Tigray region to other public universities across Ethiopia. The decision comes following grievances raised by students who were unable to continue their studies due to current prevailing conditions in the Tigray region. Minister of Education Professor Berhanu Nega announced the resolution during a discussion held at the ministry's compound with affected students who gathered to seek solutions. High-level officials, including State Minister Professor Kindeya Gebrehiwot, responded to various questions and concerns raised by the students. Professor Berhanu emphasized that ensuring the safety and right to education of students fleeing conflict is a priority for the government. To facilitate the transfer process, students are not required to report physically to the ministry; instead, an online registration portal is being launched to allow remote applications. Students must complete the transfer form online by providing details regarding their previous university, field of study, and academic year.
