ENDF Issues New Security Directives for Mekelle City

The Ethiopian National Defense Force has announced new security directives for Mekelle city, aiming to strengthen security and curb criminal activities. Effective from November 6, 2026 (Tikimt 27, 2019 E.C.), the measures prohibit the movement of all vehicles and motorcycles between 8:00 PM and 6:00 AM. Vehicles must display legal license plates and are forbidden from carrying unauthorized stickers.

Furthermore, official security inspections are restricted to the hours between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM. Individuals possessing unlicensed firearms are ordered to surrender them to the police commission committee within three days to avoid legal action.
