A viral video showing police officers dragging and harassing a woman in the city of Wolaita Sodo has sparked public outrage. Local residents condemned the actions, stating such behavior is unacceptable for law enforcement and demanding an official apology from those involved. In response, Wolaita Sodo Police Commander Habtamu Asfaw clarified that the incident was not an assault but a misunderstanding that has since been resolved. He noted that the woman involved had apologized and returned home. Commander Asfaw further alleged that the video's circulation aims to undermine the city administration's ongoing crackdown on illegal trade and improper receipt issuance. He confirmed that the officers involved in the incident will face internal disciplinary action. Meanwhile, the city's justice department declined to provide further comments to the media without an in-person visit.
