Ethiopian Media Authority Approves 'Dimtsi Tigray' Name Change

The Ethiopian Media Authority has approved a request to rename a broadcasting service operating under the Tigray regional caretaker administration. The station, which was previously licensed under the name "Maedot Broadcasting Service," has officially been granted authorization to change its name to "Dimtsi Tigray Broadcasting Service." The authority confirmed that it accepted the request for the name change submitted by the region's political and public organization sector. This entity was formerly known as "Dimtsi Weyane" before its license was revoked. It had subsequently resumed operations on October 29, 2026 (Oct 19, 2019 E.C.) under the new name "Maedot" before this recent amendment.
